Donald G. Saari wrote on May 18, 2008:
I enjoyed it; very lively, very "reader friendly," most informative. I have only minor comments that might help the exposition.

Instead of voters staying home, you might have that you are tallying ballots by first counting configuration of ballots that lead to ties. To illustrate with a two candidate election between Sue and Joe, a way to tally ballots is to combine a Sue and a Joe ballot -- that is a tie, and continue to do so until all possible pairs are exhausted. At this point, the candidate who still has extra votes wins. Then you can make the argument with the Condorcet triplet; these votes should be ties, so lets count them first and then see what remains.
Nice job; I was sufficiently impressed that I downloaded the draft of the discourses book. Hopefully this summer I will find time to read it.
