Fares Alnajar is a postdoctoral researcher at the computer vision group at the University of Amsterdam. He obtained his PhD at the ISLA Lab Amsterdam in 2015. His research focused on automatic face analysis under uncontrolled conditions. He was an intern at Video and Image Processing group at Philips Research Eindhoven. He worked there on age estimation under unconstrained conditions. Fares Alnajar received his M.Sc degree in Artificial Intelligence (cum laude) at the university of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He was a scientific programmer at Thirdsight, a spin-off company of the University of Amsterdam focusing on the automatic analysis of faces. In 2008 Fares was awarded the Amsterdam Merit Scholarship, a full merit scholarship for outstanding students coming from outside the European Union. Fares is gold medalist of the Syrian Olympiad of Informatics 2004.
