A picture of the terracotta lion's head

Dedication and persistance

Two halves of a sculpture dating from 500 BC, a terracotta lion's head, which once formed the upper portion of a water sprout in an ancient Greek temple. They were reunited, following a 20 year long international search that began with a mere hunch of Brian Shefton ... The Shefton collection is now part of the Great North Museum in Newcastle upon Tyne in the United Kingdom.
