- Installed Aibo Mind 2 update. No new memorystick, on has to overwrite the old Mind stick.
- TakePicture from RemoteFrameWorkBeta works with the new Mind stick.
- RemoteChess from ZSB 2004 also works with the new Mind stick, except naturally the content page with the chess moves..
- Installed the Aibo Mind Entertaintment Player on nb-avmovie. You first has to uninstall the old WLAN manager and virtual aibo. Also DirectX version 9 is installed..
- RemoteChess from ZSB 2004 works scarcely. Connection is possible, but no images or movements..
- BaseClient from RemoteFrameWorkBeta has problems. The API of Internal/ExternalControl has changed. BaseClient works again when compiled with the new includes and linked with the new libraries, and the adding a flag to Internal/ExternalControl calls..
22 December 2004
- Bought a Sitecom Wireless Network PCI card 54g (WL-115) for pc-aibo.
17 December 2004
- Installed cvs by coping bin/cvs.exe and man/cvs.1 from cygwin-2004.
- I updated the sourcetree on nb-avimovie.
- export CVSROOT=:pserver:name@ugly.ph.tn.tudelft.nl:/data/external/cvs/aibo
- cvs login
- cvs co DT
- mv DT DT2005
- The last command is needed because some scripts (i.e. Make/DT.bash) find the DT_DIR on the pattern DT200. So, we have a decenium-problem :-).
- Make/DT.bash fails do to a missing Depend.exe.
- Checked in readme.txt and License.txt with cvs ci. Have to set CVSEDITOR.
- Installed vi 6.3 and added EDITOR to .bash_profile.
16 December 2004
- It seems that release 2 (https://openr.aibo.com/openr/file/OPEN_R_SDK-1.1.5-r2.tar.gz) is installed in cygwin's /usr/local/ both on on pc-aibo's C: and E: drive.
- created new C:/cygwin/home/arnoud, because the old one was not writable for me. Old one renamed to /home/physar. Can be deleted, but not by me.
- Copied E:/cygwin/usr/local/Tekkotsu_2.1 to C:/cygwin/home/arnoud/packages. According to the readme, I only have to a local copy of project-directory.
- Edited C:/cygwin/home/arnoud/packages/Tekkotsu_2.1/project/Makefile.
- make cleanDeps ... done
- Added to FreeMemReportControl.cc
- #include <OPENR/OPENRAPI.h>
- { /* AVI Dec 2004 */
- /* see /usr/local/OPEN_R_SDK/doc/Level2ReferenceGuide_E.pdf */
- ODesignDataID dataID;
byte* data;
size_t bytes;
- OPENR::FindDesignData("SYS_CPUINFO", &dataID, &data, &bytes);
if (bytes && data != NULL)
{
OCPUInfo *info;
info = (OCPUInfo *)data;
sout->printf("system clock %d Hz, pipeline clock %d Hz\n", info->sclk, info->pclk);
} else {
sout->printf("unknown system and pipeline clock\n");
}
- } /* AVI Dec 2004 */
- make; make install
- ping 192.168.0.110 @pc-aibo and @arena has no effect. Good test: ping 192.168.0.200 @ arena (USB-adapter).
- replaced Tekkotsu Ms for Remote Ms. ping works.
- copied wlanconf.txt at Remote Ms to /home/arnoud/packages/Tekkotsu_2.1/project/ms/openr/sys/conf and to Tekkotsu MS. ping bobby @ arena works. USB-adapter fails several times and needs hard reboot. Replace adapter.

- The precompiled RobotControlCMDOptimized? fails on a assertion in the file Microsoft Visual Studio\VC98\MFC\src\olelink.cpp. The GT2004 requires Visual C++ 6.0 SP6. Service Packs for vc6 can be found at http://msdn.microsoft.com/visualc/previous/vc6/downloads/default.aspx.
- Recompiling (see Edwin's work in Augustus) didn't work. RobotControl?.dsw needs SimRobotForRobotControlStaticLink?.lib. DT2004.dsw needs iconv.dll for xsltproc.dll.
- Recompiling with Make/DT.bash (as described in C:\GT2003\doc\DTreader1.1.pdf) works, but seems to make only MS.
- Copied iconv.dll from Util/LibXML? to C:\WINNT (location to libiconv.dll). Now it works. Output shows multiple configurations: Xabsl2 generating Config/Xabsl2?/gt03-ds.dat, Special Actions generating MotionNetData?.cpp, SimRobotForRobotControlStaticLink? generating the library that RobotControl?.dsw was missing, RobotControl? generating executable.
- RobotControlCMDOptimized? does now start.
- Download tomorrow for instance http://www.ph.tn.tudelft.nl/bscw/bscw.cgi/d84784/Tudelft01.log for further testing.

- Moved wiki-site from carol to info, because the wiki doesn't work on the new machine staff. Some files in the wikidb directory had wrong ownership. Recreated DailyJournal by pasting content of Keep/D/DailyJournal?.kp (till 7 Oct) , Page/D/DailyJournal?.db (till 2 Nov) and temp/new_diff (8 Nov). Probably could have used the latter one for the whole history.
8 November 2004
- Added users arnoud, edwin and knibbe to c:/cygwin/etc/passwd by manually adding lines. No complaint any more when starting cygwin. Groups-command gives now 'Remote Desktop Users Users', which is equivalent with S-1-5-32-555:545.
- PC-Zoran is now replaced by pc-aibo. The Harddisk from pc-zoran is now secondary and aibo DT2004 related software is transferred to the new c partition. Cygwin needed re-installation, and made a copy of the DT2004 folder to the c partition. The unzip program is installed under cygwin to make the install_GT.bat run correctly (uncomment the unzip lines). Add also the path /lib to the PATH environment to run the gtk_test application.
- Installed the Sitecom wifi wl-012 driver
- Set permissions for the DT2004 and Cygwin to users/pc-aibo to run applications from the users staff account.
- Flagpoles are now available for the Aibo soccer field.
2 November 2004
- Trying to play chess with the Aibo. The contents dialog has been changed to a chess dialog. Start does move the robot a few steps, but it looks like that we need some extra movement-files. mwcid's: Start 9500, Before Walk 9002, After Walk 9001, Positive Strafe 9800, Negative Strafe 9700, End 9600.
- Medit uitgepakt. In verschillende subdirectories zitten de mwc's. De id kun je vinden in mwc.cfg.
- In projects/aibo/ zat een copy van de memorystick. Patch and wlanconf.txt in deze copy gezet. Motion zit trouwens in mw/data/p.
1 November 2004
- The problem with the Game Controller was that the script bin/start1.bash expected two Aibo ip-adresses, one for red, one for blue.
- The game-states have a colour: init = yellow, ready = purple, set = green, play = blue.
- We have now a working goalie. Only it likes to back-up into the goal, and never to come out. We need vizualisation to see why. Robot-control should do the job, but how?
- The face gives also some information. Default is a T-shape (B5,B6,B9,B10,blue B13) (variable faceledcode in Defaultledcontrol.cpp). See for the facelights appendix 2 of the model information. Next to that variable other states are displayed, such as role (green B3,B4 over blue B13) and behaviour (green B1,B2). The keeper-role is indicated by no green lights. What the mapping of the behaviours are I cannot find. This is probably hidden in the xml-specifications. It can also be that only representations of the world are given (ball seen), because in that files I find references to both-on. The presence of the ball should also be indicated by the tail. Horizontal movement indicates that the aibo has seen the ball, vertical movement indicates that another aibo has seen the ball.

SONY has noticed that some AIBO ERS-7/W models (affected serial number range of 7000001~7001897) may be affected by the following phenomena:
* AIBO ERS-7/W joints which may not function properly during its operation,
* AIBO ERS-7/W may start self-charging its battery even though the battery has a sufficient level of energy.
Our serial numbers are 7000829, 7000831, 7000836, so I sent a request. They will contact us in December.
10 October 2004
- Looked if I could create a cgi-bin/adder on the aibo: this seems to be impossible because any process has to be there already at start up (and runs forever/restarts after receiving new information).
- Edited the Makefile of tekkotsu to create my own executable. Learned a lot about stub.cfg and myObject.ocf
- Downloaded http://www.ensta.fr/uer/uei/baillie/eng/openr_tutorial.html, for the missing chapter about stub.cfg.
7 October 2004
- Sony has announced the Final version of Remote Framework. We have to upgrade to Mind 2 to be able to use it.
- The France have something comparible with Remote Framework, yet open source: http://sourceforge.net/projects/urbi/
- According to the Open-R installation guide (page 11), there is a difference between Ad Hoc Demo Mode and IBSS Peer-to-peer mode. For Ad-Hoc, the APMODE=0, for IBSS the APMODE=1. For Ad-Hoc you specify the channel, for IBSS not. The only way to now for IBSS to which network one has to connect, is by the ESSID. Switched the wireless-network of nb-avmovie to computer-to-computer only (view networks, change order, advanced). Specified fixed adress 192.168.0.99 (no dns). Set wlanconf.txt of the aibo to APMODE=1, ESSID=aibop2p, ETHER_IP=192.168.0.111. Ping 192.168.0.111 worked! telnet 192.168.0.111 10001 worked (tekotsu-menu)!
- Writing tiny_php was less succesfull. Direct executing a php-script works from the command-line, which writes a normal html document to the stdout, but it lacks a cgi-wrapper which counts the number of characters generated.
- Starting my own apache/httpd on arena is possible, but tricky. I can use my own directory as root, but there are warnings about NFS-mounted directories (for instance on logs/accept.lock). Created pkg-file to be able to read the man, and bin/sh/apache.sh to start, but not tested this.
6 October 2004
- Removed Matlab 6.5.0 from pc-zoran
- Installed apache and php on pc-zoran
- Ping 192.168.0.23 to test wireless to nomado
- Could not reach lewy 192.160.0.112 or aibonet 192.168.0.113
- Changed channel from 3 to 11, changed ESSID from robolab.science.uva.nl to robolab, disabled WEB. See file:\projects\aibo\lewy\robolab11\Wlandflt.txt
- Connection works now for lewy (not for aibonet, the accespoint has adress 192.168.0.250)
- NetControl? makes the connection, starts Remote, Starts socket server, but the motions are imcomplete (maybe not a complete RemoteFrameWork? card anyhow). http://pc-zoran.science.uva.nl:8080/php_socket_appli/rfw_test.html with command 1 and host pc-zoran works now: you get a echo '1' back.
- When you type 'MOVEHEADV 10' to localhost the head goes up. 'OK' is echoed.
- When you type 'PHOTO name.jpg' to localhost also 'OK' is echoed. The file is stored at the directory where you started NetControl?.exe (C:\Programs\[AiboRemoteFrameWork Beta1]?\RFW_Sample_exe_Beta1).
- Updated directories in RFW_aiboControl.php, to get http://pc-zoran.science.uva.nl:8080/php_socket_appli/aiboCommander.php working, without succes.
- aiboCommander.php edited, gives now always a picture, and reports that is connected. Yet, problems with the cache, doesn't update the php-file.
