Signals

enginecarcar
German railways use two different kinds of main signals along their lines. A 2-light signal with the two meanings stop and proceed and a 3-light version with the additional meaning proceed slowly. These signals are used on our model railway as well.

3-light signal red 2-light signal red HP 0
A red signal always signals a train to stop immediately.
3-light signal green 2-light signal green HP 1
A signal signals a train to proceed with regular speed.
3-light signal green-yellow HP 2
A green and yellow signal signals a train to proceed with reduced speed. It's used to inform the engineer that his train will now leave the main line and switch to a siding or minor line or that his train will enter the main line from a siding or minor line.

HP0, HP1, and HP2 are the official labels of these signals used by the German railways.
