Session 3: Read mapping part 1

The third session deals with mapping of metagenomics read data to reference genomes (or metagenomes), including:

  • a brief reminder, why we do this

  • a touch of bioinformatics for sequence alignment

  • a look at the output (alignments) created by read mappers

  • what we can do with this output
