6. Mathematical Tools

Signal processing is based on mathematical analysis. Some really smart tools from signal processing can be used just given the recipe what to do (and in some cases we will do so as the math is just to involved in bachelor course). But this is a course at university level and any scientist of course is (or should be) interested in what makes those tools tick.

So buckle up, we are doing some real math here. But also don’t be scared. If you signed up for this course you probable are not too afraid of math and as teachers we hope to guide everyone willing to put some serious effort into it to be able to complete the course with good results.

In this section we (will) collect some of the basic mathematical tools that we need for this course:

Complex numbers are really not that complex (it only becomes complicated when we deal with complex functions:-)
